We live out of state. In 2001 we purchased 3 cemetary lots at Memorial Gardens. In Feb. 2010 we purchased a double monument from Needham Monument Co. We paid for the setting and final engraving of the stones. We did not give them a deadline on setting because we thought it was a reputable company and the jman was honest. It has not yet been set, and the company was sold last year. The new owner has refused to set it unless we pay him again. He said that the previous owner "never gave him the money for setting and engraving" and it would not be moved unless he got the money from us. We are retired and live on a fixed income so naturally this can present a problem. What can we do short of hiring an attorney and paying him more that it would to repay for the setting. Can you help us? We are at our wits end as to what to do. We contacted another monument company and they said they coulod not move the stone and set it because they would be arrested if they went onto his lot without permission. HELP!!!
