Brandsfever marketed and advertised a campaign to sell 1,000 Ipad/Ipad Mini for $1 each. The original campaign was scheduled for 20th December 2013 at 9am. On the day, apparently the website's server was unable to handle the heavy traffic for the next three hours, I received "Gateway error 502".

Some users claimed that somehow they manage to purchase, but was refunded and have their orders cancelled.

At 11am, Brandsfever apologised for the technical error caused and announced they would reschedule the campaign to 26 December 2013,9 am and promising that the campaign will be run smoothly with more servers to handle the load.

On 26 Dec 2013, the website was running smoothly until approximately 855am, I start to receive "Gateway error" while anticipating the campaign to start. At 905am, the campaign starts to appear on the website and through the next three hours, I was unable to click to purchase to shopping cart even though the campaign was LIVE.

Many users complained on Brandsfever's Facebook while its social media team simply refuse to acknowledge there were technical problems again. At about 11am, they listed the item as SOLD OUT and subsequently remove the campaign as though it did not exist.

Although some users claimed that they have successfully purchased the item despite the Gateway error, the company has not been ethical , providing misleading advertisement and abusing consumer rights.

  • Dear customer,

    Greetings from Brandsfever.

Firstly, we would like to apologise for the bad experience you had with the iPad mini campaign held in December 2013.

Secondly, the campaign had ended with highs and lows partly due to technical glitch, which resulted in customers were not able to complete the purchase and disappointed.
And as much as we would love to have all the customers to purchase the iPad mini, we were unable to due to the limited quantity and unexpected overwhelming response.

However, we took this as a learning curve and we would like to thank you for the support, and we will definitely improve on the future campaign.

Below is the link which you may view pictures of the customers who had managed to secure and collected their purchased.

Thank you for the kind understanding and have a pleasant day.

    Best regards
