I was contacted and hired at Compass Electronics Gmbh by Lukas Dopher ([email protected]) on April 4, 2012 as a US Supply Chain Manager through CareerBuilder. I was to make $1,250 bi-weekly during my 60 day probationary period and $2,400 bi-weekly thereafter. This was confirmed by Stefan Fink ([email protected]) the finance manager on day two of hire.

On day one of hire, I was contacted by Lia Zingler ([email protected]), Senior Supply Chain Manager and introduced to my responsibilities and welcomed to the company. During my time with the company I made contacts with other electronic supply companies, placed orders for domestic customers and confirmed delivery with their warehouse. I did not handle any financial transactions personally. The telecommute work was easy, convenient and too good to be true. I am not sure if the other companies I'd contacted for order placement (www.protonmicro-ltd.com, www.amaltheia-tech.com or www.combo-parts.net/download.html) were real or simply a part of this intricate scam. Either way, Compass Electronics Gmbh was not legitimate.

On the second day of hire, I provided them with official direct deposit information. This made all personal and financial records vulnerable. When the first pay day arrived on April 18th there was no deposit. I questioned it but received no response via e-mail. Phone numbers at the company rang without answer and finally a call into Lia Zingler (Senior Supply Chain Manager) was disconnected once she recognized it was me calling from an unfamiliar number.

Though I visited their website prior to my telephone interview and didn't find any good or bad information about Compass Electronics Gmbh at the time I also had a tough time Goggling them. I thought it was weird that I couldn't find their business or members of their staff on LinkedIn, Facebook or Twitter. These were all the red flags that I should have noticed prior to signing on with this company. Not until they neglected to pay me did I find a list of complaints online about this employer.

They have probably worked under different names, done different scams and are planning new ones all the time. Be very careful. Do as much research as you can before becoming vulnerable to scam artists. I've since changed my banking information, set-up a consumer statement on credit report and started looking for a REAL job again.
