In November, 2010 a representative from Hays Law Center reviewed my finances income and expenses to see if I qualified for a Mortgage modification. After I supplied him all of the information he told me that because I was on a fixed income and all the ratios and circumstances I would easily qualify for the government program that would reduce my interest rate down to 2 1/2 %. it would cost me #3,500 that I could pay them in installments. I made the payments, supplied them with all the documentation they requested. I then learned that I did NOT qualify for the government program because I missed the date by a month or two. By now I had gone through about 4 different agents that were handeling my case and was told not to worry because my lender would do an "in house" modification. Now after a couple of more different agents and more and more documentation I believe there is not going to be any mortgage modification. I believe I have been ripped off. I should have been told I did not qualify for the government program from the beginning and I would never have sent them a penney. They told me I needed to be at least 2 or 3 month behind on my payments and tried to encourage me to do that. I was going to do that but felt that that was not legal and made all my payments. As a result I was late on one payment. I have always had A1 credit and could not ruin my credit. Since I paid them they almost never respond to my calls and emails. They even ask me if I want to give up on the modification. I don't think I can ever get a modification but I don't want to let them off the hook...I want my money back and want them prosecuted for fraud on a senior citizen
