A message was left on my husband's business phone that stated I was a cosigner to guarantee a bad check that my ex- mother - in - law had written. The lady said her name was Maria Morales . I called back and spoke to a man who said he represented an attourney's office and that if she did not pay the check I would be liable but he offered no details as to a date or dollar amount or anything else saying "confidentiality" and he could be fired. I never signed or agreed to anything and have no idea how they came up with my name and paired it with the lady who had not been my mother in law for 18 years!! They avoided all questions just saying that if I didn't get her to pay I would be responsible. This particular company is located in Goldsboro, NC according to reverse lookup of the phone number 919-330-1206 they called me from. Truth is she probably owes nothing to this company and they won't see one nickel from me!!
