I was sent a letter and a check from Commerce Investment Group and a check from Polyair corporation explaining that I had won $150,000 share of a $3 million cash prize, distributed among 20 people. The check was made out for $3,980.00 and the letter was asking for me to pay a $1,995.00 tax on the $150,000 prize. The letter and check both screamed 'scam' right when I read them. The bank on the check is Lasalle Bank N.A., Chicago, Illinois. The check looks extremely real, but feels cheap and thin. When i called the number on the letter (1-289-892-0011 doesn't seem like a very legit number) I was greeted by a man who immediately began to ask me personal information. I asked him to hold on and to explain to me the whole situation (I already looked into it and knew it was a scam) and he started to stutter and sound nervous. I asked him why he needed all my personal info, and he hung up. Watch out for this one.
