I had enrolled for Auto Billing with AT&T and this month when I received the message that auto payment has been applied, I realized the bill amount was higher than usual. On checking my bill, I found that a service named ShaboomMedia has charged $9.99 on my account.
I only remember that I started receiving some annoying text messages all of a sudden last month on my cell and even replied 'STOP' to one such message as it said reply with STOP to stop receiving these messages. I didn't read what was written in those text messages as I never imagined someone could charge me without specifically confirming to a subscription.
On reading the posts on this website I realized I am not the only one being charged in this way.I have written to AT&T to rollback this charge and waiting for their reply now.
Update: 05/15/2012
AT&T has today credited my account back with $9.99.
