I applied for a payday loan last week and this morning I discovered I'd been charged $29.95 by this company. After reading dozens of complaints and talking with my bank, I hesitantly called the 888-845-3158 number and expected to be on hold indefinitely.

To my surprise, my call was answered within 5 minutes by a very friendly man who agreed to refund my money immediately with no questions. He advised me that I'd agreed to the small print on the payday loan site, which said that I accepted the program offered by a third party (Money Toolbox). I told the man I don't mind working with a third party, but I did not agree to have my account debited for $29.95. The man admitted that he wasn't sure if the dollar amount was actually listed in the fine print because he hasn't actually seen it himself, and then he quietly and discreetly offered me a bit of general advice: "just be careful with payday loan sites."

He offered two options on ways to receive my refund: they can refund the money into my checking account, but it could take up to two weeks. Or, they can mail me a debit card for $31.00 that I should recieve in the mail within 4 days that I can take to an ATM machine and withdraw funds from. He advised me that if I use it at WalMart or other stores, Money Toolbox will then send me coupons to those stores.

I'm eager to see if I actually recieve the card....
