My husband received a letter dated 6/14/12 stating that he was on eof the winners in the "consumer Promotion Sweepstakes Drawing" organized for all customers of the participated retail stores in the United State and Britain. The selected stores includes Wal-Mart, Sears, ASDA, Walgreens and Staples. ......You are entitled to a guaranteed sume of $50,000.00 which will be delivered to you, by a Courier Company (FedEx or UPS). Enclosed with letter was a check for $3850.00 There was an instruction to pay a non resident Tax Clearance Fee of $1920.00 via Western Union Money Transfer. I did call on 6/16/12 and s/w Mr. Robinson who said check was legit and to pay Non Resident Tax out of the $3850.00. My husband has never entered any sweepstakes, he doesn't even play the lottery!!! So how he suddenly won $50,000 without prior entry in a sweepstakes sounds very much like a con and scam. Can someone please let me know why this happened.
