I arrived in UK on 17th of June on a business trip. My company had made an online reservation in Hotel Manor in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, for 27 days. I made a full payment of GBP 897 on arrival and then the owner checked me in.
I found the room to be too small and uncomfortable and requested my company to change the hotel.
A lady colleague of mine arrived on 20th Of June, she too found the room and the hotel to be unsuitable for a woman's stay and raised a strong worded request to the company to change the Hotel.
Our company agreed to the request and booked Holiday Inn for the two of us.
We informed the owner of Hotel Manor on 20th June evening(One Mr Chris) that we would like to check out. He told us that we were free to check out any time we wish, but he would have to consult bookings.com about settlement of his commission before he could make a refund. He also advised us to leave our card details including the CVV number. We didn't accept that suggestion and told him that we could come down in person, if need be, to process the refund.
Today on 21st June, Chris has informed my company that as per his Hotel's cancellation policy, He will not make any refunds.
It is a very small hotel run by a owner. I am sure there is no such policy except the owner's discretion. I am feeling cheated and robbed.

Kindly advise on the course of action that I could possibly take.
