In April of 2011 I availed Direct TV's "Dish mover program". I had been a customer for more than 2 years. At that time I requested a downgrade of my programming package to their minimum program package for $29 per month and HBO only, for financial reasons. This is a matter of record since their programming billing will certainly show this. At that time their representative tried to up-sell me noting the programing I would not be getting. I had to tell him 2 times that I only wanted their minimum package and HBO with no other programming until further notice.
In november of 2011 I had occasion to observe a bill which had a charge for NFL Sunday ticket. This is something that should not have been charged to me by the fact that I had in April specifically request not to have it or any other premium channels except HBO.
I immediately called Direct TV's customer service and requested to have the charges removed. Their representative said they could not and would not help me. At that time I told them to disconnect my services.
I waited for the programming to be suspended. After weeks of waiting for the program suspension I again called and talked to a supervisor to tell him of my dispute with the company. I explained my position and said I wanted the billing resolved and my service disconnected and that I would return their equipment which I did in a timely manner. He said, "OK" and then proceeded to read me a bunch of things is company could do to me. I told him that was unacceptable to me. Two(2) days after my disconnection I received a call from their customer loyalty department offering me special incentives to stay on as a Direct TV customer. I could not proceed with the call because of the place and time where I was. Their representative said she would call back. She never did!
I would have remained a Direct TV customer if they had made even the slightest attempt address my concerns. They would have incurred costs probably equal to my billing dispute if I had accepted their incentives to remain a customer.
I dispute this entire unjust situation and charges on the part of Direct TV.
I intend to file a copy of this letter with the BBB and credit reporting agencies and JD Power and Assoc.
