I received a check from Bankers Concept and Assurance Company for $1996.40 and the accompanying letter explained that I was hired for a mystery shopper job. The letter instructed me to Western Union transfer $1464, plus $126 in fees to Madrid, Spain. Then I was to go to Walmart, Costco, Best Buy or Home Depot, buy something and that I could keep whatever I bought as a "bonus". Upon completion of these tasks, I was to send an evaluation to the company. I was also allowed to keep the remaining money for payment.

I attempted to find this company online with negatve results. I also checked with the Better Business Bureau and they had no listing. The bank the check was issued from exists, but the address on the check for the bank was incorrect.

I made a report with the Federal Trade Commission and also plan to report it to my local police dept, even though I know they can't do anything with it locally. The PD can, however, contact the real bank and let them know about the situation.
