Went to apply for public Para Transportation services and express concerns over the stranding of elders and disabled people in the community in which I lived in Honolulu Hawaii. Set the meeting up through the Department of Transportation Director's office. When explaining to the Director the nature of my concerns and the need to get services, the nature of my hidden disability, my refusal to relinquish my civil rights to acquire services by having the non-medically licensed transportation staff of Oahu Transit Services render a physical exam on me (which they call a functional exam, requiring me to take a stopwatch timed walking test on the side walk and on grass) so these non-medically licensed people can gauge "balance, gait, and coordination") while I offered to have my treating physician fill out any form they give me, they refused and denied me para transportation, and the Director of DOT in Hawaii undermined my meeting with OTS by having two other people present that I was not aware would be there, making it difficult to share my personal private information all the more.-Denied para transportation services I need for my disability I was stranded, shut-n. My Family lived out of State. They called APS in Hawaii, and APS did not investigate. I lost even more weight due to the inability to get safe transportation fitting my needs. Wasting, with a chronic illness, my family moved me 6 months later to Reno Nevada on June 5th, after the State Ombuds refused assist as well. I was forced to give up all social networks of friends,volunteer political activities,my chances to enter grad school without the needed public transportation, because a RAIL system is going into the island presently and manipulation of funds from para transportation monies has reduced services overall. I became one of the victims of a BIG DIG project gone bad and thrust upon the least able to bear the burden.
