Last year I was rung up by a company called Easy Claims also know as Claims2Save. Repeatedly saying they could recover an under matured endowment policy of six years ago. But I had complained at the time but never concluded due to the loss of my wife and my parents in short succession. They said this would be mitigation circumstances and they were experienced in dealing with such matters. Repeatedly ringing me they asked for an upfront fee of £249 for which they would also do a full financial review, and they assured me they would reimburse if not successful. e-mailing their general information , nothing more. Eventually I paid on my debit card on the phone and received nothing but confirmation of the withdrawal by later return phone. Months passed and I repeatedly rang them and they said they would ring back and never did or did not answered the phone. I later learned that they had gone into receivership; and three companies wrote to me to take over. But none of them in their terms and conditions were going to refund the money.
My repeated letters to the original company were returned to me as return to sender.
I then learned another company was dealing with all the original clients , that is Freedom Marketing.
They seemed helpful on the phone and said they had my file which wasn't in order because I had never received the paperwork to sign. The financial review was to be about my pensions but I pointed out that I am already drawing them, and so that was irrelevant.
A few months ago they rang me to say they were going to reimburse my upfront money the next day and asked for my bank details which I gave. Nothing happened. I have written many times without any reply. Their phone number is inactive.
