I made two phone calls from Toronto Airport using a payphone with my credit card. The phone calls were local and lasted only a few minutes. WiMacTel charged me $29.06 for two short local calls. What a ripoff.

  • Hello: Please look at the credit card trasaction and see if there is a phone number linked to it, call your credit card and log a dispute with them. Then call WiMac Tel.inc and tell them that the quality of the calls very bad and you hung up when you could not hear your party at the other of the line. Pleased be professional and assurtive,it may work to get your money back. it happened to me in Paris. I tried to make a 20 second call to the usa, phone company charged me $40. I went through my story and got refunded within 3 days. Good luck to you.

  • WiMacTel is an operator services provider. Consumers are able to contact us for any issues by calling Customer Service at 888-476-0881, or e-mailing us at [email protected]; this information is posted on our website www.wimactel.com.

    Most consumers do not understand and appreciate the expense differences between a direct-dialed call and an operator assisted call; operator assisted calls are more expensive due to the numerous expenses associated with them, such as:

    Validation
    Billing & Collection
    Bad debt
    Live operator staffing (amortized over all calls)
    Credit card processing fees and compliance requirements
    Customer service center

    None of these expenses are associated with coin-paid direct-dial calls placed from a pay telephone or direct-dialed calls placed from a residence or business.

    WiMacTel does not post our calling rates on pay telephones due to space limitations. With calls to locations worldwide; automated versus live operator processing; and, various billing methods, there is no room to display all of the resulting rates. To help consumers make an informed decision, WiMacTel does make available the option to obtain a rate quote.

  • I'm at this site to post a complaint againt WiMacTel for an exorbitant pay-phone charge too; browsing other complaints first. I'd like to point out that the phone number for "WIMACTL" on my bank statement was 88847608. When you want an explanation for the $31.46 charge you discover on your statement for the couple of minutes you spent unsuccessfully trying to call a taxi from a pay phone during a lightning storm in the middle of the night, try calling 88847608.

  • I am concerned with the comments about the entire phone number not being on the bill and I will investigate right away. Please email me your call details to [email protected]. Also I would like to investigate the complaint regarding the price of the local call as what you are quoting is not the correct price.   • Used a payphone to call my brother since I forgot my cellphone. The volume was extremely low and I had no change. I used my credit card to make the call which was under one minute. I check the next day and see that I was charged $45.31. I was not explained what the fees would be by the operator. This company is a scam and needs to be shutdown.
