This company contacted me claiming to be from Windows Support. In February I took out a maintenance contract on my PC and they claimed that Microsoft no longer licenced GTes Support (The company I took the contract out with) to maintain Windows software.
They said that due to this I was due a percentage of my payment back. This Totalled £296.50. Then then asked for Pay Pal details as the minimum international refund they could make was £700 and that I would need to pay back the differenced once I had recieved £700. They installed a Pay Pal shortcut onto my desk top which showed £700 had been deposited. I gave my card details so that the difference between the two payments , once the Pay Pal payment had been cleared could be taken. Within minutes they had removed £339.50 from my bank account via Western Union - they had set up an account with WU without my knowledge and although payment had not been proceesed my bank could not stop payment. I checked my Pay Pal account and the balance was zero with no money ever being deposited yet on my desk top the Pay Pal short cut that they installed still shows £700 GBP. On Sunday I recieved 9 calls from ALBANITE asking if I had recieved funds??. I was then bombarded by various calls telling me I needed to supply bank account and sort code details so that the money could be returned. This obviously I have not done. On top on the money stolen it has cost me over £90 in telephone calls to attempt to resolve the situation. The bank however because I gave my card details and used a debit card as opposed to a credit card do not want to know. The Beneficiary Bank is :- ICICI Bank Limited 20 R.N Mukherjee Road Rasoi Court Calcutta India. AlBanite Technology knew not only that I had a maintenance contract but also who that contract was with (GTEC Support) and also what I had paid for that contract. GTEC Support strangely are base in Calcutta (020 30510987).
