I had taken my car in for a warning light repair. The mechanic found out that one of the computer units was broken and needs to be replaced. He told me that it will be covered under the warranty and wait for him to call me back. He had called me back and told me that Direct Buy refused to cover that part. He then called his friend at Advantage BMW in Houston to ask if that part is normally covered under other warranties. His friend at BMW told him that all the other warranty companies cover that part. The part was going to cost $2,500. So I called Direct Buy Warranty to find out why it was not covered and he told me that because this computer unit is associated with emissions system so it is not covered. So of course I started to get upset because in the previous repairs that they did cover. The parts and labor was 1/3 of the actual cost of the repair. So I have spent over $2,000 repairing the car when the parts where all covered. Now they tell me that this part is not covered because it's related to emissions system. I'm not a mechanic and do not claim to be one, but how can a computer be part of emissions system? The whole car can be related to the emissions system. Then the person at Direct Buy told me that I should of read the contract, and there is nothing he can do. He also told me that I had 30 days to cancel the contract but I didn't. I didn't file a claim until 2 month later, if I claimed within 30 days of purchase, I would of asked for the return. I think it is very unethical selling warranty to customers and while other Auto Warranty companies cover for full labor and parts, Direct Buy can get away with this.
