Dear Sir/Madam

I would like to call attention to one of the latest internet scams to sweep the web. The particular "company" I got scammed by was Traffic Angels and their website is trafficangels.org.

Keep away from this company at all costs.

I purchased 1,000 targeted followers from them at $80 in June 2012. I had my reservations before I made the purchase to be honest but because they had a 100 % 30-day money back guarantee, I thought 'well what have I got to lose?'

On their website it says the following: "Starting a relationship with a new business can sometimes be a rocky affair. But don’t worry, because all of our work is backed by our 100% unconditional money back guarantee. Simply put, if you are not 100% satisfied with the work we do for you, then we’ll give you your money back. No conditions, no excuses, no bull — just results. That’s how we do business. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain by trying our services, so if you have a new project in mind, we hope you’ll try us out today!"

In order to get the targeted followers, I had to give them my Twitter login details – another big mistake. (This was the Markateur email account which – very unwisely on our part - had the same credentials was hacked earlier on).

After the payment had gone through which took a few days even though I paid through PayPal, they emailed me telling me I should expect around 500-1,000 followers weekly when I made a query about how long it would take.

After a few days, they had literally only added a few followers onto my Markateur account and only after the number of people they made me follow went up to about 700, when it was previously around 40.

I emailed them to complain and they said they could no longer honour their previous agreement to add 500-1,000 to my Twitter weekly because Twitter had changed their terms of service in May 2012. This was strange, as they had told me that they could add 500 – 1,000 soon after I made my payment in June 2012.

Anyway, for that, and a few other reasons I was unhappy, so I asked for a refund.

They sent me a really snotty email saying "it seems patience is not existential in society anymore.."

I complained again, and requested my money back as they did not add 1,000 followers to my Twitter site in fact all in all I only got around 12.

All I got back was a lot of rude emails from them – promising to give my money back but that it would take 2-3 weeks to process. I contacted them after 3 weeks threatening to report them if they did not honour this, and they said I would get my money back on July 26.

Predictably, I did not. This company has basically run off with my money, have not delivered any services, and has left our small company $80 worse off.

We managed to trace the following details on the company over the internet, although my legal representative is still looking into it, as it could be a fake one.

6010 Bathurst St, Toronto, ON, Postal Code:m2r 2v3
Luckily, I was in a fortunate position where my business was able to get a free lawyer as part of our government's Small Business Support Network, but they are still trying to locate the owner of this scam which is Kevin Holte. We are currently working with the Secret Service Financial Fraud Unit and authorities in both Canada and the US to verify the address and find out his IP address and to check whether it is the same IP address that his emails were sent from.

We're also working together with consumer organisations in Canada and the US to raise awareness about this TrafficAngels and to find out whether they are affiliated to any other so-called Internet Businesses.

We also have kept a record of all email correspondence Mr Holte has sent to us for legal reasons, and we can send a copy to anyone who requests it.

Because they have demonstrated that they are not a legitimate organisation and had no intention of refunding the money, we are going to raise as much awareness online as possible, so that even if I do not get the money back for my business, we are keen to ensure that he is unable to con anyone else in the same way.

In each of the very strange and rude emails they have sent me, they have always found an excuse not to refund my money at the time when they originally agreed. I realise now that this is a common technique used by scammers.

There is a site called Buy Traffic Guide and they have emailed me to confirm that they have also received several complaints from other customers about this criminal organisation. They have since asked me to write an article about my experiences with them.

There is another site scamadvisor.com which said that TrafficAngels is less than six months old, as of July 19th 2012. It also said that it is rarely clicked on, which makes me feel that it is a complete scam and is actually operated by one person although they try to make it appear otherwise.

We are also making contact with both the US and Canadian embassy about this organisation, to bring forward our complaint. Please can you investigate this further for us if you are bale to and highlight this scam to your readership. We have retained and saved all of our electronic correspondence with this fraudulent organisation for reference. If you'd like to see the case we have built against them and in particular the owner of the site, and would like us to keep Scambook updated of any other odd emails we receive from them, please let us know.

Best Regards

Janine
