- Same thing happened to me. I finally tracked down the culprit. First I asked my bank to investigate the charges. There was a trail of about 5 companies before I could figure it out. Apparently www.smartmemberservices.com had a trial offer that was in the fine print of a magazine subscription. When you don't call to cancel, they just start charging you for their service. They use the financial information you submit for the magazines. I called them and they agreed to refund two months and my bank (chase) agreed to refund three months. I'm still out two months of charges but was assured that they will stop. I am going to the bank to request an account number change to prevent them from using that account information again. Hope that helps.
