Murphy's Auto & Truck depot in Oceanview, Cape May Co, NJ

Drive on by, don't buy.

Patrick Murphy pretends to be a Christian, but he's an old fashon South Jersey used car dealer/weasel.

We made a deal for a 2010 Used Jeep Wrangler with 5,200 miles and my trade a 2011 Jeep Compass with 29,100 miles.

The Bank, Suntrust, which I believe is in bed with Mr. Murphy, had his money to him with in hours. This included the NJ Sales Tax (7%) and tags, and titling. It took Mr. Murphy a month to process this,it was done 2 days before the temporary tags would expire.

I had to file a complaint with the NJ-Cape May County Consumer Affairs Office to get this done.

Oh, by the way, Mr. Murphy didn't offer a CAR FAX, so I bought one. He failed to tell me that the 2010 Jeep was in an accident; but he got full price like it wasn't in an accident.

As of Aug. 13th the 2011 Jeep Compass wasn't paid for; per trade in agreement. I spoke with Ally Bank.

Mr. Murphy doesn't honor his WARRANTies as posted on the vehicles.

When ever you call his buiness an angry irritated woman answers. He's always with a customer!

There's at least two other dealers involved with him. One in central NJ, and the other in Warminster, PA. They send cars, trucks, and jeeps to each other and play musical chairs with the sales they do make.

DON'T BUY ANTHING FROM THIS GUY!

  • Follow up: The 2010 Jeep has been registered & titled with NJDMV; and Suntrust assures me that it's a "clean title".
Suntrust commented that they do business with only honest dealerships.

As a result of my complaint, the Cape May Co Office of Consumer Affairs contacted, on my behalf and others, the NJDVM. The NJDVM conducted an audit of this dealership.

Ally Bank has been sitting on "a check for payment" of the 2011 Jeep for at least 5 business days. They wouldn't acknowlede they received it.

Ya know what's really stupidor maybe "bull headed" by the dealer? He could have sent me a copy of the check he wrote to Ally Bank, and I'd be giving them a royal complaint. Wait, I will.

Business goes where it's welcomed and returns where it's appreciated. What pushed me over the edge was the irritated angry woman that answered the dealer's phone. I think I annoyed her.

After all I just spent $19,000 on a vehicle they probably bought "at auction" for $11-12K and made $7-$8K on it. That's fine! That's business and the vehicle seems to be worth it even with the "accident" the dealer forgot to tell me about.

Therefore, don't treat me like a dirt bag or "just another ass-hole"; I put food on the dealer's table that week. So the woman push it! lol

I hope this will all be resolved by Wednesday, Aug 22nd.

If I find out ALLY BANK was messing with us, I'll post a complaint here, too.

The dealer ought to get over the fact that an alert consumer took action and not laid down & died.

Ya know what's sad? This guy has the potential of being a big dealership, but for some reason is stuck. If this fires the angry woman, no wait, give her a chance; sends her to school for customer relationship classes and processes NJDMV in an acceptable manner; and pays-off trade-in with in 5-15 business days:
I'd recommend him, but not today.

  • RESOLVED!

After 40 days the issue is tentatively resolved.

This didn't have to happen. If the dealship would: 1) get titles, registrations, and tags at least 1 week before Temp Tags expire, 2) pay-off trade ins within 20 days, 3) honor displayed Warranties on vehicles, and 4) send that irrate and snappy woman to school for customer relation trainning.

The dealership needs to be proactive with slow moving Banks like ALLY that take forever to process pay-off.

I am just waiting for the official letter from Ally that the vehicle is paid.

I won't be having coffee or lunch with the dealer or his employees anytime soon; but seeing how I spent $19K plus gaave them a good trade-in: they ought to send me a Thank you card with a Gift Certificate to Dunkin Donuts.....lol figure the odds.

  • THE FINAL SOLUTION- all accounts are settled, except for the "Accident damage" hidden by the dearlship.

ALLY BANK......stated to me this morning, Wednesday, August 22, 2012, that they ALLY received the PAYOFF on the 2oth of August, psoted it on the 21st and closed that account- 2011 Jeep Compass, on the 22nd/August.

WFT! Welcome To Facebook, ahhh Scambook, readers.....Who's telling the truth?

Did the dealership mail the PAYOFF check on the 10th of August or the 20th? Well it doesn't matter. I stopped ALLY AUTOPAYMENT so I didn't get screwed by the dealership into making a $288 payment that they probably, and I say probaly, would have kept.

Oh, well....I think I stick with mainstream BBB approved major dealerships in the future.

    LET THE BUYER BEWARE!
