A few months ago we responded to an invitation from Direct Buy to come and
listen to their sales pitch. The incentive was an Android tablet which I thought our
grandson would enjoy. We attended the presentation and as we were leaving I
asked about the tablet. The lady, a little reluctantly, handed me a flyer with a certificate
number which asked me to go to a website,

I went to the website -- Quinden Marketing -- and was asked to send in a certified
check for $9.99 to "register". After I did that I received a list of products I could
order including the tablet for $29.99. I thought the tablet would be gift and now it was
getting close to the retail price of a 7'' tablet. Oh well, I thought, our grandson
would be happy.

I sent in the certified check for $29.99. In the offer they said that if I would provide
a business address they would throw in a stylus worth $2 for free. I sent in the address
and they responded saying that it was not a business address. I work from home and all
my business mail comes to my home address. I replied saying that it was, indeed, my
business address but if they did not believe me they could just send the tablet and forget
about the free stylus. This was on May 25. Since then they have not responded to my emails
and, needless to say, I have not received the tablet.

Is this a scam? I should have been suspicious when they asked for payment by certified check
