The company slim tone plus and Body cleanse plus suck you in with offer of a free trial of products, asking for just £2-49 for postage costs per product, they take your creditcard details, also crucially asks for your telephone Number and email address.
They then immediately despatch the product and take the postage costs from your account, they have thereby established a 'Shipment Date'. They have also unknowingly to you, programmed your telephone number into their system so that it will always be answered by an automatic machine saying they cannot answer due to volume of calls, they have also programmed your email address to an auto-response reply that repeatedly says there is a 72 hour delay in replying. Meanwhile both firms after the lapse of 14 days take further sums of £37-50 from your account for each product they have sent you and will continue to take £37-50 each month for ever unless you cancel, However, details of how to cancel and get a refund are only sent to you on the 22nd day after you have placed the order, but to do either of these things you have to contact them for a 'returns number' before 14 days and cancel before 21 days, which is impossible, because they don't reply to phone calls or emails until the 22nd day. A catch 22 situation.
They have taken £117-50 from our account, we cancelled our credit card to stop future withdrawals, What they are doing is just within the law, it is a legalised but fraudulent scam. by paying your £2-49 postage you have effectively agreed to join a monthly program to buy their products. There is a terms and conditions tab barely noticeable within the site from which you ordered. You didn't notice it, you are not alone, 100s if not 1,000s of others fell into the same trap.
I think this scam could be effectively challenged in the Small Claims Court, We are in our 70s and too old to have the energy to do it. They set a very clever trap and we foolishly walked into it. I hope someone, somewhere will put a stop to it.
