I paid a great deal of money up front to a company called TCI for a travel 'club' in 2003. Because I never used it, in 2005 I cancelled IN WRITING and thought nothing more about it. Apparently, Advantage bought out the company or took over or something and decided to chase my new credit card expiration date in 2007. Since I was paying down a balance, and mobilized to active military service three times since, I have to admit I did not notice the annual charge reappeared by a company of whom I had never heard. When I finally noticed this month, I called and they told me that their "policy" was no refunds. AND that I should have known because they sent out a letter (to an old address) that told me all of their policies, but I had no choice at that time but to accept their policies anyway.

The really frightening thing is that they will not allow me to cancel the membership/account..whatever they call it. They said that it is for a lifetime and they can only make it 'inactive'. Which means as soon as they want to chase my credit card information again, it will happen again. I know that when I signed up under TCI, the policy was that it could be cancelled...which I did....7 years ago. Unfortunately, I only keep paperwork for 6 years.

So, I didnt even request a refund for all of the charges since 2007 when they reinstated me because they were the "new company". I only requested a refund for this month since I was cancelling AGAIN, but in the same month. They kept saying that "no refunds" was their policy, and that I cant cancel. I can only inactivate.

The monetary damages listed are the charges since 2007.

I have no idea how to fight this. This lifetime of no cancellation policy must be adverse to some sort of law, whether privacy or business.
