An unauthorized check transfer of $30 was debited from my checking account on 10/04/2012. The digital check didn't have my correct address. The phone number and account number were the only correct items on there. My bank said there was nothing I or they could do - advised to close my account. When I called Palm Loans, they claim it was for an APPLICATION fee. I told them I NEVER APPLIED through them. The lady rep asked If I Wanted to Apply for a Loan. I said "No, I used another payday loan provider." She asked again.I said "No" again. I finally hung up the phone. I'd previously got a payday loan from a company I'd used many times before on a Sunday. That Monday, I had about 10 calls from other payday loans. I called my payday loan provider and told them I think they're accounts have been hacked. I was told that my payday lender uses the same secure site like my bank does. I believe the info was hacked from my reapplying through my usual lender's website. My financial info was shared with other payday loan lenders. I'm not sure what can be done about it. Is it just a $30 loss? I'll look into filing with the FTC and BBB.
