hello my name is sandra ahmad. i recently decided so sell some old gold items that i no longer wear. i had my gold valued at two seperate independent valuers and was given a price of approximatly £750.00 by both company's. i then looked online and the top website was offering to cut out the middle man and pay more for my gold items so i requested a valuation. they sent out an envelope to which i posted my gold and stated i would be paid within 24 hours. approximatly 11 days later i received a phone call with a quote from britishgold. they offered me appoximatly £450.00 which i was shocked at. they then revised there offer and offered me £500.00. i refused the offer and requested that they returned my gold. i was then told i will have to pay £50.00 to get my gold items back. the procedure to get my items back was via an email to my self with a sort code and bank account number to which i had to deposit £50.00 within 10 days are my items would be refined. it is at this point it is invalid that all consumers must read the terms and conditions of any transaction. unfortunatley i didnt. on reading T&C i am also obliged to put a letter in writing confirming that i have refused there offer which they must recieve within three days. i then discovered that there was no address to be found on any documentation i had or nothing online. so i have no way of writing a letter as i have no address. i have emailed them today but have not yet had a reply. i have 2 contact numbers, one which just rings and then cuts off and another that says it is closed due to essential maintenace. i fear i may have been scamed and will not see any of my gold again. i have been in touch with trading standards. this company needs to be stopped from trading as it is robbing people..
