I posted an ad on Craigslist for a hard top for a Miata. I got this email: "I want to test/drive your Mazda Miata Hard Top (or Hardtop) for NA Miatas - $750 (Roanoke, VA), where I need to come? I will pay with cash." The sender's address was [email protected], but the reply to address was [email protected]
I also had posted an ad for my BMW z4. I got essentially the exact same email: "I want to test/drive your 2003 BMW Z4 2.5i (Luxury Performance 2-Seater Convertible Roadster) - $13000 (Roanoke, VA), where I need to come? I will pay with cash." The sender's address was [email protected], but the reply to was the same [email protected].
I'm not sure what the scam is yet, but there's something fishy going on.

- I have the exact same thing and I'm in Rochester, NY and the original person was an email from [email protected]

I posted an ad on Craigslist for snow chains and received an e-mail from [email protected] with subject "your ad".
It read, "I want to see and test your Spikes-Spider snow tire chains - $200 (NE 12th and Broadway), send me your number, I live near. Cash on spot or at your bank!"
It sounded a little fishy, but I hit reply anyways. After writing the e-mail, I noticed the new reply to e-mail was [email protected].
Glad I Googled before I sent my number! -

- Jennifer, you did the right thing! Always google something you suspect might be fraud so you don't get taken advantage of!
