I am selling a wedding dress on craigslist and got a text from someone telling me he was a marine engineer and that he wouldn't be able to pick it up. He wanted to pay me using paypal. Immediately, I think scam. He talks a little more, all the while I am searching for Paypal scams on craigslist. Sure enough, the first thing that comes up is 95% what is happening to me (guy never said he was on an oil rig). Just wanted to report the number, just in case this can go anywhere. No money lost, just trying to save others.

- I had the very same person. I dug a little deeper and got him to send me his "invoices" and got a name and email. It may all be fake, but I submitted it all to paypal and the attorney general.

- I had an official email from paypal, saying the funds were there but pending a tracking/shipping order number. Yes i feel like such an idiot, I am always warning my family and friends about things online. I did send the dress and am going to post office tomorrow to see if i can stop it all.

- Good luck to you. Contact PayPal as well. They sent me a real official looking email as well. But I've sold things online and even though the funds weren't available for me to withdrawal, they still showed up. Good luck on getting your dress back. :(
