I was called by a Mr. Denzel Martin advising me that "today was the last day that I could cancel the internet ad for my company". I was told that my pastor had authorized the ad. In order to cancel I had to be connected to someone and give our address, state that I was authorized to make payment, understood the company name and the amount of the ad, and would I like to pay the bill now. After that I would be reconnected to Mr. Martin and he would cancel the ad and we would not reeive a bill. I was reconnected to him and was told the bill would be cancelled. He then suggested that I might want to do the same with another "ad". Yes I wanted to cancel that, too. I went through the same procedure but instead of being reconnected to cancel the ad, I was left on hold for 25 min. at which time I realized I had been scammed. There was no way of contacting the company to verify the bill had been cancelled. I then googled USPublic YellowPages and found no listing. I called my local BBB and was advised there wasn't much I could do.

I received a past due notice on 10/11 for 599.99 + late fees going back to June, then a fax on 10/15 requesting that I contact Jessica Ryan to resolve the issue. I called to contest the invoice but was told that my conversation was recorded and it's a binding purchase. Ms. Ryan played the recording for me which was only the part where I made the above statements. My request to be reconnected to Mr. Martin was not part of the recording.

I was also urged to pay now and avoid going to collection and having our company's credit damaged. I stated that the recording was incomplete to no avail.

I don't feel this is a legitimate business and shouldn't be forced to pay for something I was coerced into doing.

  • It is a scam. I received the same invoice on October 1. I tried emailing the company and they called saying I must pay the debt and they have recording of me approving it. I remember them calling months ago saying I need to confirm so my boss could cancel his ad and I answered yes/no questions about cancellation and these people actually change the recording so it is yes/no of your accepting charges for ad!! I did research and found their website uspublicyp.com is same as onlinepublicyp.com which has many, many, many complaints on here and on the BBB site. And the same amounts are being requested $599.00 (initial amount they said), $627.39 and $676.80 after "interest" even though the first invoice they send is months after the so called initial billing. Everything I found shows that they cannot do anything to you they will threaten lawsuits etc. but they are so known to be scam artists and have been in trouble under other fake company names that they will not pursue anything beyond threats. Report them to BBB, FTC and attorney general so there is awareness for others of this new fake company name they are trying this under.
