I am an 85 year old man in poor health who is essentially homebound. In November, 2011, having just been released from the hospital, I clicked on an internet advertisement. In response, I received a call from someone from with Emerchant Middleman. He kept saying that I could make money by having his company set up a website and provide me advertising and leads for a small business. When I hung up, I was very confused and didn’t understand what I had gotten into. I felt pressured into giving him my credit card information. When I received my credit card bill, I had been billed $12,000.00. They later told me that it was for 6000 leads at $2.00 each. They also charged me $495.00 for them to build me a website. I cannot afford to pay this bill and have tried since November, 2011, to get the company (along with American Credit Card Services which processes payments for Emerchant) to reverse the charges once I realized I had made a mistake. After almost one year dealing with this, Emerchant Middleman refuses to let me out of the contract.
