My parrot got loose and walked to neighbors house when I was away on business...the neighbors dog got to my bird and he was hurt pretty badly. The neighbor called the police, not knowing what to do and the police handed him over to the So Cal Parrot assoc. When my husband finally found out where the bird was, it had been 2 days and the So Cal Parrot assoc told him that the bird needed some stitches and special care. My husband, having 3 kids and no help, was a bit stressed. So when they offered to nurse him back to health, because they are a non profit organization, he agreed. He did not think he could care for him round the clock.
When I found out that he had left my parrot with them, I called and spoke to them. They told me that he was doing well but that he had some blood count issues and a broken toe issue and that he needed a lot more than just what they had bargained for. I asked to visit him the minute I arrived back to Coronado, and was told that he was under strict care and could not have visitors. I emailed daily for a bit and then was asked to stop emailing so much and that they would let me know about any changes. I asked to speak to the vet and was denied. I have called and called and nothing.
At this point, I got an email telling me that as soon as he was cleared by the vet and by their organization, he would be put up for adoption and that they would sent me the paperwork to see if I qualify?????
