I bought a store from Your Own Store in 2011, lured in by very slick sales patter and the fact I had been made redundant from my job. I spent my redundancy money on this website. I was assured I would receive an income of around $40,000 a year from the site and that it would only take a few hours a week to maintain. I followed the training provided and my store was virtually completely optimised, but absolutely no sales, when their servers crashed spectacularly in the Xmas period and lost the owners any holiday traffic they may have received. It took a long time to sort out and when the sites came back online, Google updates started emerging which smashed and destroyed the Your Own Store concepts about SEO. They were very slow to react to the changes in Google and as a result many of the stores were sandboxed or plumetted in rankings and have never recovered. The owner has been evasive, patronising and arrogant in the extreme and has refused to talk to anyone except by way of a condescending email here and there. There are massive problems with the CMS and product feeds of the sites and most of the products are not valid, or out of stock and do not track on the Affiliate Window software so commissions are lost frequently. The company operates in a dark way if criticised and have engaged cyber thugs to threaten and intimidate people perceived to be leading complaints about them, so much so the police had to become involved recently. There is no doubt the stores were misrepresented and missold and no store owner is likely to get their money back as it has long been spent on the lavish lifestyle of the owner. Owners are no longer getting responses to their requests for assistance and they are just being ignored. The owner is now focussing on setting up similar schemes all overthe web, similar to this one, instead of trying to keep existing customers stores going and assisting with the massive changes in Google and the changes that would need to take place in the stores to try to earn an income. I think my $10,000 is gone, long gone, although I could ill afford to lose it. Please beware and do not buy a website with crazy claims of projected income from this awful bunch.

  • Your absolutely spot on YOS are a bunch of thieving crooks who have so far escaped the clutches of the law.The whole business is a scam and a very well organised scam at that very convincing, a highly polished sophisticated deception, if they had names like Olibawano and Mosikito etc and hailed from Nigeria people would steer clear of this type of business, as such they are well spoken, white college guy spivs that can talk the talk and can sell sand to the Arabs and ice to the Eskimos.

  • I just want to get one thing straight, dont confuse bad practice (over estimated earnings and underestimated work required), poor customer support, and shoddy dealings from an arrogant owner as a scam, its not. You purchase a website and training, you get a website and training. They "estimate" earnings, but dont guarantee them. Everything they promise, they deliver, everything they estimate is pure fantasy. The sales team are slick, but the company is not. I believe they set set out with an idea they genuinely believed in, now they know it doesn't work and are trying to re-brand themselves as www.yourtravelstore.co.uk but the same affiliate business model is doomed to fail, in my opinion... I would summarise my comment by saying, its not a scam.... its a failed business model, run by a company owned by a Grand Master of arrogance, only sustained because of the success of the slick sales operation, now desperately looking for a new business venture to enable its exit strategy from the world of YOS with the minimum of damage to itself and its reputation. Thats my honest assessment.

  • I totally agree with you Revengemaster 1 and yes I also believe that at first they had a business model which was sound and capable of succeeding but not any longer. I firmly believe that since they have been made aware that their business model is a complete failure by I would guess nearly all of their store owners, it has not made them do anything to alter the facts that no store owner is making commissions as they cant get sales from on existent traffic.Further to this as you say they have adopted an arrogance towards their customers to the point that they have the barefaced cheek to expect their failed customers to pay for their ongoing service. One customer who bought two failed stores 18 months ago has refused to pay and has now been denied access to his own stores. They are still selling stores despite knowing their business model is dead in the water.that not only makes them arrogantly complacent it makes them a bunch of crooks and schemers.
