On May 31, 2012, my 84 year old mother was contacted and told that she owed Medicare $447.34. With her being adamant about paying any bill she has due, she immediately gave them her information and they immediately deducted the amount from her checking account. I printed a copy of the "check" when I found out about it, found an address for them and a phone number. Calls to the number only told us that they would return the money within 21 business days. That didn't happen. My mother's bank said if they had known about the transaction within 24 hours of it happening, they would have sent the transaction back unpaid. I agree with all the postings regarding YR Benefits, that there should be something that could be done to get these unfortunate people their money back. From what I can tell, they are all elderly people, which makes me wonder how YR Benefits is getting their information. If anyone hears of a class action or finds out how this can be persued, I would definitely be interested in hearing about it.
