I needed help getting my internet back up and running since I had purchased an Apple Airport Extreme Base Station. I wasn't quite sure how to hook it up properly. I googled to try to find the phone number to Apple. The first number that came up and that was highlighted ended up being MyTechHelp. At that moment, I didn't pay attention that it wasn't actually Apple. Of course, hindsight is 20/20. I called the number and the guy insisted that I had to pay $249.99 in order to get my Base Station to work. Now..mind you...I'm thinking I'm talking to the Apple people and I completely trust them. Looking back, I realize how unprofessional the person was. This guy was actually telling me how nice my voice was and how he couldn't believe I wasn't married. I should've hung up then! He also told me that if I wanted to cancel the $249.99 later, I could. I would be refunded all but $50. LIES!!!! After paying the money and being connect to a "technician" for at least 2 hours, my internet was back up and running (although it was a very simple problem that Apple would've taken care of for FREE, I'm sure). I then saw the email confirming the $249.99 purchase was from MyTechHelp. I was like "WHAT!?!?!? this isn't Apple!" Oh yeah, the "technician" also convinced me to pay $59.99 for virus protection. She told me I could fill out a rebate form and get my money back on that. I suspect that is just another lie. I called the company the next day to cancel the $249.99, only to be told that they could only refund like $100 of it. Also, the rebates are behind schedule and it would be a while before I would get my money. The lady said she could offer me $100 in restaurant.com coupons...which I declined. I don't want ANY OTHER SCAMS from this company. Also, the lady charged me another $89.99 and told me to keep checking back on my credit card to see the other money deducted. She was talking so fast that I don't know what she was talking about! WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH MYTECHHELP.COM. I know I am going to file a complaint with Better Business Bureau and call my credit card company to see what can be done. I have a feeling, this lowdown company will start charging my credit card every month if I am not careful.
