I have written to these people demanding they cancel my account and stop billing. They have confirmed, so hopefully there will be no more ripoffs.
The site itself, and their so-called 'service' is the scam. If you read through their 'terms of service' (but who ever DOES, right?), you'll see that they pay 'members' to create fake profiles with fake pictures and then flirt with you through messages, winks and so on. They claim that this 'encourages' you to make broader use of the site (read: keeps you coming back to the site) and it's also an anti-spam feature whereby they're checking to see if your responses to these phony approaches 'meet the site standards' (as if there WERE any).
In short, the three kinds of members on this site are us (the dupes who are hoping to make a connection), the phonies hired to keep us dupes using the site month after month in the hope of meeting someone, and the webcam girls who immediately try to lure you to Yahoo, where they will try to get you to view their webcam shows.
I think that about covers it, but it was really amusing to read their response to my accusations. I think I may have hurt their 'feelings', when I accused them of defrauding us. Gee, I feel kind of bad now... :-)
