Originally back in Nov. I called AT&T to complain about my internet access always freezing and having to reboot it. They referred me to InfoTechLine. The tech did a scan and said I had a virus/malware issue. He said he could fix it for a fee. I was grateful for the opportunity of a fix and they could monitor it for 3 months. My boyfriend was very skeptical when I told him, as I was current with Webroot antivirus software. Well, I got a call on 2/1/13, from Morris of InfoTechLine asking how are things, the weather, I said fine, he said he wanted to do a scan, but his screen was black, my boyfriend uninstalled what they had put on the first time. He gained access, pulled up some registry and pointed out that someone was doing security changes and audits almost everyday. He pulled up another tool that was a graph, and he said that was bad. He did a file scan, it showed I had over 56K corrupt files. He said my network was not secured. But he could re-install fixed files and secure my network. I was dumbfounded and scared. He asked if another device used my network, there is another computer in the house, that is rarely used, but it was over T-giving. He was adamant that one needed to be scanned as it likely had corrupt files as well. He did the same graph, not nearly as active as the first computer, and the scan, showed 88 corrupt files. He said I had to clean the second computer to secure the network so there was another fee, one per device. I again told my boyfriend and he was livid, said I was being scammed. I got a new modem in Dec. its password protected, there was no way anyone can get into my computer. He googled their site and saw a ripoff complaint. I feel I have been taken advantage of and ripped off, and can't believe AT&T would refer them.
I have an IT friend, I asked him to look into this company, he said he never heard of this company and found a rating of 49% safe, no confirmation of a location, so he feels its a scam, a scare tactic to make money, as securing the network usually just involves turning on the firewalls. That takes just a minute. He's inspected my computer he cannot find that they've left anything harmful, nor can he tell that they did anything useful.
I called Infotechline and spoke to Morris, he is defending providing a service, they will not give me a refund. He continued to ask if he could help me with a new issue. No! I asked where he was and he told me New Delhi India.
