i had flood damage and a huge hole in my cieling with water pouring out.the whole lounge was like a bombsite.i couldnt reach anyone on my insurance and so i looked online and perth evap air con and gas came up.i rang spoke to chris who seemed very personable and was willing to attend immediately.he came and told me my whole evap system was shot the ducting was finished and the whole thing needed replacing.he informed me he does this kind of thing all the time and it would all be done through insurance .it was in the hot time of year and the house was unliveable without the evap system.he said he could do it strait away which i was suprised at but he would need a 3000 dollar deposit to get the job moving.he didnt do bank accounts and only worked with cash.so in my state of shock i handed him a 3k deposit.
after new year i got in touch with the guys jaa aircon who had fitted the unit previously.jeff is a real professional and came immediately and they had a look at the system said a hose had come undone and just re connected it free of charge.
the unit works fine and has done ever since and it turns out the system was less than 12 months old anyhow.
so i ring mr chris brocklebank and tell him of the news expecting some kind of apology.he then immediately tells me he has a unit and the deposit was non refundable.i tell him i cannot afford the 3k loss.
he after a lot of back and forward offers me a job driving him as he has lost his license for 3 years.he offers me this so i can earn back some of the money he owes me.i then witness people calling him and asking for money back repeatedly on the phone or just complaining about his jobs.once he has the money he doesnt care anyway.
he informs he has "my" unit to sell and then he can give me back my money.metalplex are his supplier in wangara.i spoke with them and they informed me he only pays cash before he takes an item and if its not taken from the premises it would be refundable or creditable.
yesterday i had to drop him off at court for some other defence he is out on bail for and while waiting he asks me to go cash a cheque for a job.
i did this at whitfords banks west as he instructed and i have a text from him saying there is a grand free.i understood he was using this money to pay back my deposit for a job gained on total deception and the grand free was for my wages which he hadnt paid me.
i must add here that the reason i worked for him is that i could not find any address of his home or business and needed to locate him.this was achieved .
yesterday he then goes to joondalup police and tries to get me arrested for taking the very money which was mine anyway.
he is not happy as he has got caught out and now i know his address i intend to tell everyone i can as i know there are lots of people who want to find him for similar deceptions.
i would question his electrical qualifications and any job he has touched.generally he starts by asking for cash for a new motor or a new pump then tries to get the shocked people to buy a new unit.
he did the exact method to me.i have no idea as to how many people he has scammed and i am a bit of a loss as to how to get his story out there.he has threatened me since and today i will go to get a restraining order on him

  • he needs to be stopped out of business completely .he is a pathological liar but he is taking money from people under false pretences.i have informed the police but they have said its a civil matter and the consumer protection is not interesed in the big picture they only look at one case at a time.no wonder these guys act with impunity and have no fear of the system. he needs to be exposed and a warning sent to all other fake tradies robbing people

  • Firstly id like to thank DR Al for his diagnosis of me being a pathological liar! Some of this story is true and some would be better used in the next HARRY POTTER novel.I recieved a call asking me to check out a leaking evap air conditioning unit at the customers rental property, we arived at site to find the propery was a 2 story townhouse.I called my client and told him we no longer carry ladders long enough to reach a second story air conditioner because health and safety laws require us to wear a safety harness atatched to an anchor point on his roof, something he would have to orginise himself. [at quite a cost i would think] He asked us to enter his house and look at his ceiling, a very large area of which was laying on a very damp carpet. Mysteriously, some pieces of DRY plaster had dropped sideways and even managed to make it down a flight of stairs positioned meters away from the affected area. Looking into the roof space we noticed pieces of drainpipe had been cut and removed with a saw and it was quite obvious that a much larger area than damaged, had been pulled down by hand and thrown around the house. The ductwork coming from the bottom of the aircon unit was wet through and had obviously been filling up with water. Both myself and my offsider have pictures of this on our phones along with a piece drainpipe that had been cut out. we were then informed by the customer that he would have the whole aircon replaced under insurance along with his carpet and ceiling, he estimated the air conditioner at about ten years old and added that he couldnt remember the last time it was serviced.Knowing that we hadnt actually sighted the unit, he asked me how quickly we could supply and install a full new system and stressed that he would loose out on rent if not completed quickly. I gave him my price which he accepted and i asked for a deposit of $3000. I have recently become very strict on taking a deposit as its not uncommon for customers to change there minds.

  • after i have bought the equipment, leaving me out of pocket and having to store units at my cost waiting for someone else who needs that particular colour and size airconditioner. i gave this as the reason for asking for money up front and recieved the usual 'dont worry about that happening with me' response.I stuck to my new rule and followed Al to the bank, gave him a reciept and he gave me $3000 cash. Just to recap... knowing that we had not sighted his unit, given a diagnosis of its faults and condition [or recieved a payment for our extremely promt call out!] This man accepted a quote without speaking to his insurance company or seeking the standard 3 quotes insurance companys require before proceeding with a payout? Along with the fact his drain had been sabotaged and his ceiling ripped down by hand...it sounds more than a little fishy to me! I kept my word and returned to the townhouse within a couple of days, bringing with me everything required to complete the job. As we pulled up to the job , i noticed another air conditioning company was at the house so we pulled over just down the street to observe,as we parked up my phone rang and Al informed me that he had put a new unit in 12 months prior but had forgot about it. He then demanded back his deposit and told me he had no money and wasnt living in either his house @ Burns beach[ with ocean views] or, his investment townhouse in joondaup, but was staying on a mates couch. Feeling sorry him i offered him some work and at the end of the first week he was paid $750.....more to follow!!

  • The $750 dollars he received was for over 30 hours work and was paid on a sat afternoon. The following Monday he worked half a day and again on the Tuesday. Wednesday I'm not sure how many hours worked as I was requested to give information in court for something non work related. I'm not sure at what time al decided to take my vehicle without permission and visit my suppliers, customers and various banks trying to cash a cheque he had no right to cash. It's at this point, if anyone's interested in any of this, I would ask you to contact al and ask for proof of the text message he claims to have stating I asked him to do it on my behalf. Around mid afternoon on that day I had four texts from al asking if he could cash it.... Non of those texts were responded too by me. In fact one of the texts from model citizen al, says the bank will not cash it for me, can you contact them and authorise it... Again I did not reply as my phone was switched of due to being in a courthouse. After giving my information I called al on his mobile so we could head out to my first service call, his phone was off! I was stuck with no tools, no transport and no contact numbers of my customers. Eventually his phone came back to life and he informed me that he had cashed the cheque and was keeping my house, van and workshop keys along with invoice books for the last 4 years of my business dealings. The question was asked, if you think I owe you $3000, where is the the other thousand left from the $4000 cash cheque you have stolen... Surely you can't be thinking of keeping that? His response was " I will because I can" After a few attempts he agreed to meet me and suggested joondalup or Whitfords police station for our get together, as he had stolen my van, it was easy for me to attend joondalup, where I reported the offence. Al's comment about trying to get him arrested is comical, I'm sure he thought i wouldn't make a statement because of his VERY intimidating presence. Why suggest meeting

  • consumer protection has closed this case as a full refund has been made and the police have been given copies of receipts.
IF YOU ARE A VICTIM OF CONMEN RING CONSUMER PROTECTION THEY WILL GIVE YOU GUIDELINES WHICH IN SUMMARY AMOUNT TO SENDING A LETTER ASKING FOR REPARATION (IT IS DIFFICULT IF THE BUSINESS HAS MULTIPLE ADDRESSES AND BUSINESS NAMES AND IS ELUSIVE BUT EVEN TEXT OR EMAIL WILL SUFFICE) AND THE TIME FOR REPARATION MUST BE INCLUDED.IF THIS CAN NOT BE RESOLVED THEN THEY ADVISE YOU TO GO TO COURT AND FILL IN FORM 6 .THIS WILL BASICALLY SUMMONS ALL PARTIES TO COURT.YOU MUST ALL BRING RECEIPTS AND DOCUMENTATION .
IT IS DIFFICULT WHEN THE BUSINESS YOU ARE DEALING WITH DENIES ANY BELONGINGS BUT IN FACT ANYONE SUPPORTING THE BUSINESS FINANCIALLY IS IN FACT DE FACTO PARTNERS .
I THINK A GUIDELINE FOR DEALING WITH BUSINESS PEOPLE SHOULD BE SET.IF THEY SAY USE LOGOS LIKE THE MASTER PLUMBERS AND GASFITTERS ON THERE WEBSITE THEN ACCREDITATION SHOULD BE PROVEN.I THINK THAT ANY BUSINESS SHOULD PROVIDE A BONAFIDE ADDRESS AND ABN NUMBER AND PROVIDE FULL RECIEPTS WITH TAX IMPUTATIONS INCLUDED ACCOMPANIED BY THE RELEVANT PAPERWORK FOR GUARANTEES FOR WORK OR PURCHASES.THAT WAY THERE ARE NO DISCREPANCIES SHOULD ANY PROBLEMS ARISE.
ANYWAY LIKE I SAY MY CASE IS CLOSED .THANKS FOR ALL THE SUPPORT
