I switched my electric service August 13, 2012,
in return I was to receive a $50.00 visa card
in 30 days. I have yet to receive the card, when I call they say the card hasn't been released yet and I should receive it in 30 to
60 days.

I think they are using false advertising, and should have to live up to the contract.

  • I have noticed many complaints on this site concerning those who were told they would receive a $50 Visa gift card for enrolling with Direct Energy. I work for the company who does third-party verification for Direct Energy and other energy supply companies. I am one of the unfortunate who you speak with after speaking with an agent and I lead you through the questions and lead you through your verbal enrollment process which is recorded for legalities. There is nothing in the verbal contract concerning the gift card so unfortunately it's your word against theirs. There is a vague statement concerning a "special promotion" that goes along with the enrollment offer but it never specifies with that "special promotion" is. If a person ever mentions to me (and our conversation is recorded) something about a gift card they were promised, I make sure to tell them that there is nothing in their enrollment contract concerning that and I ask them if they would like me to stop the enrollment so they can get clarification on the matter. These people could offer you anything (and they will) to get you to enroll but if it is not stated in the enrollment contract you have no legal means to obtain the card.
