Purchased a convertible top for my 1963 Corvette from Corvette Central, Sawyer Michigan, who in turn have Al Knoch, Texas as their convertible top supplier. The top was removed from its original box by a professional installer (Dane's Upholstery) from Vt.and installed in May 2012. By July of 2012 the top had serious peeling and flaking. Corvette Central honored the 1 year warranty by sending me a new top at no cost. Advised them that the defective top cost me $750.00 to install and questioned who would pay for the second top installation seeing its only been two months. They CC told me they would contact Al Knoch to find resolution as they CC don't warranty labor fees . After persisting phone calls to CC about not getting replys from them or Al Knoch I finally got one 41/2 months later. Al Knoch' reply to CC was 'we don't know where to point the finger', denying any responsibility!!! Feeling sorry for my situation the installer reduced the second installation fee to $455.00, he also provided to both companies a written statement that the top was defective and no fault of ours. Wrote letter to Texas BBB on 12/10/2012 and they have not replied. Also wrote to the Texas attorney Generals office and they replied stating that they don't represent individuals in personnel civil matters. SO MUCH FOR SHOPPING IN TEXAS EVER AGAIN !!! I feel Al Knoch needs to own up and reimburse me $455.00 for defection workmanship on their end..
