(damages and dates are an estimate) My husband subscribed to the AT&T Support Plus and was told that it was an automatically renewing subscription. He told them that he did not want it if it automatically renewed. They went around about it for a bit and he declined the service altogether at which point, they told him that he could subscribe for one year and that it would not renew. I pay the bill and didn't realize this and it was only after several months that we happened to be talking about it we realized they had automatically renewed it and we continued to pay. I contacted them and they told me that it auto-renews and I hadn't called to cancel. I explained the initial conversation and suggested they listen to the tape (they said they would); they got back to me and said there policy was you had to call to cancel and basically, too bad.
