I was contacted by a representative named Brendan, who said that as a result of entering my name into a drawing when I attended a local brew festival a few weeks earlier, I had been selected as the winner of a free trip to Orlando and Daytona Beach in Florida, with all sorts of tempting details. The caveat was that I had to pay a registration fee in order to avoid claiming the value of the trip on my taxes, and the fee was 498.00.
