I applied for an apartment and the landlord used this service to receive a $1 credit report. Unsanctioned by me, the company signed me up for an autopay of some kind, charging me $19.99/month for their 'services'.
When I called the company to cancel, and get a refund, they told me that I have been viewing the reports so they wouldn't refund me. I didn't know I was getting these reports, and don't know how to access my 'account' so it is impossible that I was logging on to view them.
In the end they would only refund me for 1 month and cancel my account. From some of the other stories here, I worry that even that won't happen.
It is a scam, and I hope they are required to change their policies in order to stop robbing people of their hard earned money.
