On 3-27-2013 at 12:31pm EST, a man named Robert Cruz with Business Travel Network Inc. called me on my home phone. He knew that we owned an RCI membership. He stated that we should pay him $149.00/wk for "access" to weeks that we "could" own and "possibly rent out to corporations like Coca Cola, Sprint, and Nike just to name a few for a sizeable profit. They need these rentals for seasonal corporate conventions". He even directed me to the RCI.com site asking me to go to this link: http://www.rci.com/RCI/prelogin/rciWeeks.do and scroll down to the area that says: Extra VacationsSM Getaways.
He went on to explain that we have to PAY for access these extra weeks, but only up to 9-12 weeks maximum (just under the felony limit I suspect). He goes on to explain that we would eventually get a "contract offer" from one of these "major corporations" in exchange for $1341.00 (9 weeks). He went on to say, “We don’t charge you anything because we get a fat settlement for bartering these deals.” So, I asked if they could take the money out of any proceeds they would get for bartering this negotiation between myself and these "major corporations" and he said, "Why would RCI give you anything? That makes no sense. We can send you a contract through email. Please check us out, we have an A rating from the BBB even though we don't pay their dues."
I went to the website he said belonged to them (he directed me to do so in order to point out all of the awards they have and that the BBB gives them an A rating): http://www.businesstravelnetworkinc.com/AboutUs.html
I asked him where they were located: He said, “Atlanta, Ga 235 Peachtree Street”. I looked it up: It’s a “virtual address” provided by this website: http://www.davincivirtual.com/loc/us/georgia/atlanta-virtual-offices/facility-443
I asked that he send me a contract thru the postal service. He refused. I said, “I assume you’re refusing to send me a contract via USPS because that's a federal crime to use the USPS for a SCAM.” He promptly hung up.
