I was a customer of T-Mobile for a number of years while living in California and had a family plan with 5 phone lines. Last November 2012 I moved to Louisiana and found that T-Mobile service is basically non-existent in Monroe, LA. As a matter of fact, there is not one T-Mobile store anywhere, except third party vendors who laughed when I mentioned T-Mobile.
I called and tried everything T-Mobile support recommended, finally one technician said that I should wait until T-Mobile merges with Metro-PCS (in the future) to get a stronger signal. Needless to say, that was unacceptable and I was forced to switch phone companies and transferred my families 5 phone lines.
T-Mobile insists on payment of $1000 for 5 "early cancellation" fees. I have written multiple times requesting that the cancellation was due to their lack of service in my area. T-Mobile has now sent my account to collections for $1000!
