I just received a call from a man with a very strong Indian accent named Ben Wilson who told me that our computer's license number is flashing red indicating that it has been downloading junk and malicious files for months. He would tell me the technical commands to type in to see what is downloading.
I luckily didn't believe him and got his phone number and told him I would talk to someone I know who is an IT person, and would get back to him if I thought it was necessary. I didn't know what to do after that so I called HP technical support (the brand our computer is) and talked to them and they told me how this is a scam and that they end up taking control remotely of the computer and then charge you $200 in order to get control back of it.
