I have a seller's account with eBay. A hacker signed in to my account and fraudulently added two auctions to my account, one being of little

monetary consequence, but the other has caused real monetary harm, one that I believe was handled inappropriately by eBay. Although I

made an effort to notify eBay by their online system several times, as well as through eBay customer service via telephone, all before the

auctions ended and the fees were charged, eBay has had no solution for me. They insist that the auctions were added by my computer and IP

address, yet 5 minutes online as taught me that it is very possible that a hacker can hack an IP address and get into your online accounts to

make changes or additions. Yet, even with this information, eBay has chosen to charge me listing and final value fees totaling to $254.00 for

the two items that I never owned, yet alone never attempted to sell.
I do not believe eBay has a right to charge for fees that were incorrectly caused by identity theft. Other fraudulent business transactions are

covered by financial institutions - why not eBay? I want my $254.00 dollars back, but more importantly, I want eBay to better protect their

consumers from Identity Theft, and for any such charges set upon a consumer by eBay itself as a result of such theft. An inability in eBay to

provide this protection for it's customers allows hackers/Identity thieves to wreck havoc on the very consumers they propose to serve, and

eBay appears to only care about the fees they collect, whether they are from fraudulent means or not. What if my fees were $25,000, not $250?

Would they be in the right to charge those fees to me, as well? There apparently is no mechanism to stop them. This needs to be stopped, and

their business preactices need to be changed, if not by them, then by lesiglation, or through the courts.

Please contact me at [email protected], so I may provide you all the corresponding information necessary to pursue this matter.
