We hired Matthew of Aloha Landscaping to work in our yard in Kirkland. We gave him a check for $370.00 to go get a load of bark and to pressure wash. He said he would be back that day, he didn't return. About 2 weeks later he came over and apologized and said his daughter was hit by a car. He would be back to do the work. He dropped off his pressure washer and left and we didn't see him, but noticed he picked up the pressure washer - without doing the work and never returned to do the work. It has been over a month and he hasn't returned and he cashed the check and he won't answer his phone or return phone calls.

- His name is Matthew Thometz, aka Matthew Jnana, and was arrested on April 25th for multiple charges (DUI, Driving with a Suspended license, Failure to appear in court, Violating the Vehicle Interlock device on his car (the breathalizer 'key' to the ignition). http://mugshot-catalog.com/booking/4849084/MATTHEW-THOMETZ . He's a drunk and likely still in jail; I haven't seen him post again on Craigslist since his arrest, and his voicemail box was full when I tried to call him once. He scammed me similarly, though I at least got some work out of him. I think he had good intentions, as he returned my calls initially (before he scammed me), though I think his alcohol problems got in the way. Lesson learned for me: Do not pay a Craigslist independent contractor until after the work has been completed. When I met Matthew, it looked like he was down on his luck, has had a hard life, so I figured I'd give him a chance and help him out by giving him my business. Though it looks like he took our money and spent it on alcohol. He needs professional help.
