On 12-1-07 at Bloomingdales in Sherman Oaks, I bought a pair Chanel women's sunglasses.
Around 3 years later the lenses started to show tiny peelings around the edges near the frames.
In March 2013 because peelings became substantially larger I headed to Bloomingdales without my receipt and showed Darcy Gwartz, the manager in the sunglass department my sunglasses. Said that without a receipt she could not help me. She went to a back room and came back and said that her computer only went back 5 years and did not see a sale of my sunglasses, and suggested I take my sunglasses to Lens Crafters.
5-19-13 (after finding my receipt) I phoned Darcy and asked now that I have my receipt what could she do. She told me that Chanel does not guarantee their sunglasses. I then called Chanel at 1-800-550-0050 and Stepen said that chanel did not guarantee the lenses only the frames. He too, suggested, see what Lens Crafters could do for me.
When I bought my Chanel sunglasses the sales person did not disclose that information that Chanel does not guarantee the lenses, then I would have not bought them.
People buy sunglasses because they have sun lenses in them. I would have not purchased a Chanel frame and I would not want to run around town to find an optometrist to fill them with a non prescription lense. That would be inconveniet and ridiculous.
Chanel sunglasses are expensive---its a luxury.
Chanel- not disclosing to the consumer that they don't stand behind their lenses makes this practice fraudalant -poor business consumer affair and unethical.
