I was contacted by a guy who called himself "justin" he offered to sell me 4 tickets to a concert that his uncle had bought him for an engagement gift. Since of his job in "PR" he was unable to make the trip from PITTSBURGH to BOSTON for the show and wanted to unload the tickets on to a new buyer. He seemed very innocent and unsure of how to even process such a claim. He didnt have pay pal and this is where I first went wrong. I assumed he was just some kid who didnt want to eat the tickets, and he suggested I could use Western Union. this made me slightly uncomfortable but I really wanted to see the show and he was asking a decent price. FAIL. When I was about to process the payment he asked me to transfer the tickets into his uncles name " Jacob Maloney" because thats who originally bought them. I assume now that this is in fact the scammers name and NOT "Justin" Once he recieved the money we fumbled around back and forth on text and phone calls trying to figure out how to transfer the tickets into my name. This was not originally mentioned to me. He said he would FedEX them over night, but then came up with this idea. It sounded legit, until it never happened. When I never received the tickets, he promised up and down that I would receive a refund, that was 8 days ago. Since he has kept me hanging on via text and phone calls.. letting me know that he was doing what he could. Well today, I file a police report and get this guy. I am not sure anyone in law enforcement will care that I got ripped for a 172 using western union- I SHOULD know better. But hopefully someone out there will read this.
