After Hurricane Sandy I contact Global Restoration Services to cleanup my basement from the effects of the flooding from the storm. I spoke with Mat Montgomery and he came to my home of 11/14/2012 to access my basement. I repeatedly asked him how much the cost of his service would be and he repeatedly assured me that my insurance would cover the entire cost and that I would only need to pay the $1000.00 deductible. So I paid him a check for $1000 for the deductible and again asked him for the paperwork and he advised that the paperwork would be sent to my claims adjuster and they will work with my adjuster directly. I later found out from my adjuster, Rebecca Harasymczuk at Allstate Insurance that they do not work directly with the service providers and that the $1000 deductible will only be paid directly to the insurance company not Global Restoration.
When they finished working on my basement they forced me to sign some papers. I asked to see the papers I was signing but they obstructed the view of the top of the page. They assured me again that everything would be taken care of my insurance and there really was nothing to see or worry about. I later received a copy of a contract which they said I signed via email from Mat Montgomery on January 9, 2013 together with a bill for $8,902.00. However, I never signed a multiple page document or even saw or read any contract or any document. Later on April 4, 2013 I received a letter from an attorney indicating a balance of $10,504.65 owed to Global Restoration.

This company is trying to rob me by overcharging for services that they didn’t even do and inflating charges for the services that they did complete. The insurance company estimated the cost of cleaning up my basement AND replacing wiring, paneling, trims and painting etc. was a totaled at $6,028.21. Global restoration only cleaned up the basement, removed paneling and applied microbial agent they did not replace any paneling or wiring or switches etc. as noted in the estimate of work to be complete in the insurance estimate; yet they are charging more than double what the insurance estimated the work they completed should cost.



The practices of Global Restoration are unscrupulous and I feel I was defrauded as a consumer from the beginning and I request your assistance in coming to a fair resolution to this issue.
