As I was making my purchase, I was told by the cashier that I could choose three free magazines and that I would get them for three months. She asked me to pick my three and so I did. I then paid for the purchase I had made and she handed me a form to sign, as I looked at the form I noticed it was asking for my permission to send my credit card information to the magazine subscription place. When I saw that I told the cashier that I decline to give permission and I refused to sign, it was at that time that I was told that my credit card information had already been sent to the mag. company without my signature! I then asked to talk to a manager and I asked the manager how they could send my credit card info without my signature giving them permission. She said that if you choose your free magazines they see that as a verbal contract that you agree to have your info sent in, I explained to her that a verbal contract would require that I was verbally told that my info would be sent and that I would have to verbally agree to have that info sent in order for it to be a legitimate verbal contract. I contacted the corporate office to file a complaint but have not received a return call as of yet, also I cancelled my card due to fraud and so the monetary damages are from the cost of a new card. This of course does not account for the inconvenience caused by not having a debit card for over a week until my new one arrives.
Also, as a side note, the manager also said that they would call on my behalf to cancel the subscriptions and that I should not get charged but she also admitted that sometimes people do get charged anyway and that they are real good about giving you your money back.
